At Travis Hill NOLA Schools, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future. This month, our community reminded us that they believe in that mission too.
We are honored to announce that Travis Hill NOLA Schools has been selected as the June winner of the Kiefer & Kiefer Gives community campaign after receiving the highest number of public votes.
More than 1,200 votes were cast during June’s campaign, making it the strongest community turnout the Kiefer & Kiefer Gives initiative has seen to date. Every vote represented more than support for our schools—it represented a belief in second chances, the transformative power of education, and the incredible potential of the young people we serve.

From parents and educators to staff members, board members, donors, volunteers, community partners, and friends, hundreds of people took the time to vote, share our campaign, and encourage others to participate.

About the Kiefer & Kiefer Gives Campaign
For more than 60 years, Kiefer & Kiefer has served New Orleans families with a commitment to helping individuals recover after serious personal injuries. Through the Kiefer & Kiefer Gives campaign, the firm extends that commitment beyond the courtroom by supporting nonprofit organizations that are making a meaningful difference throughout the Greater New Orleans community.
Each month, community members vote for a local organization, helping raise awareness for causes that strengthen and serve our city. We are incredibly grateful to Kiefer & Kiefer for including Travis Hill NOLA Schools among these deserving organizations and for investing in the work happening within our schools.
Our Mission Continues
Our story began in the spring of 2016 when BreakFree Education applied to open a school inside the New Orleans juvenile detention center, then known as the Youth Study Center. Just months later, Travis Hill NOLA Schools welcomed its first students.
In 2017, BreakFree Education expanded by opening a second campus inside the Orleans Justice Center. Today, Travis Hill NOLA Schools continues to serve students at both secure-care facilities, providing high-quality education designed to meet the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of every learner.
Our mission has never changed: to provide transformative educational opportunities that empower students to succeed both inside the classroom and beyond.
Looking Ahead
Awards and community recognition are meaningful because they remind our students that people across New Orleans are rooting for their success.
While this victory is worth celebrating, it also reinforces our commitment to continue creating pathways to education, hope, and opportunity for every student who walks through our doors.
